Trident was formed in 1969 as a small independent company. In the 1970s Trident sold, at different times, three exhibitions to what was to become Reed Exhibition Companies and in 1983 became a wholly owned subsidiary of Reed. In 1989 the founder reacquired the company assets from Reed and continued independently as Trident Exhibitions Limited.

In the intervening years, Trident Exhibitions Limited has created and run successful shows targeting many niche areas in the manufacturing industry both in the UK and overseas.

Trident has worked closely with such prestigious associations as SID (Society for Information Display), JEMI (Joint Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Initiative) and SEE (Society of Environmental Engineers) as well as leading trade publications such as Industrial Technology magazine.

In 2002 Trident acquired the Buxton and Surrey Antiques Fairs from Cultural Exhibitions. These long established and highly prestigious Fairs create opportunities for Trident in a new area, that of the high value consumer and retail sector.
